It’s the most wonderful time of the year: tax season. Even if you’ve owned other businesses, you may not be aware of the tax considerations of owning a rural business, such as:
- Income averaging
- Tax implications of trading in farm equipment
- Fuel tax credits
- Maintaining your status as a business, not a hobby
- Special treatment of property rental income
Karen Mason, The Approachable Accountant, will discuss how these issues (and others) may affect your tax position, and how to avoid common pitfalls that could lead to costly mistakes on your tax return.
Named Loudoun Now’s Favorite Accountant in 2019, she is a Loudoun County native with a heart for small business and a strong supporter of rural businesses that showcase and preserve the land.
