Carolyn oversees the management of multiple businesses that help women become the best version of themselves.

Carolyn is an owner and Managing Director of Radiance Salon & Medi-Spa, with locations in Ashburn and Lansdowne. Carolyn is also an owner and Managing Director of Medi-Weightloss in Lansdowne. Additionally, Carolyn is the Managing Director of Aesthetica Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center where she manages the plastic surgery practice of Phillip J. Chang, MD.

Carolyn, the eldest of eight children, was raised in Niagara Falls, New York. She graduated from Allegheny College in 1981 with a BA in English.

Carolyn began her career by selling accident insurance door-to-door. She subsequently sold and serviced personal lines insurance before transitioning to the financial investment industry. Carolyn marketed direct investments, also known as tax shelters, for several national and regional broker-dealer firms until the late 1980s.

Carolyn has two children: Alexa Severo (29) and Eric Severo (26). For 14 years, Carolyn was a stay-at-home mother, during which time she actively volunteered in her children’s schools, church, and local community.

In 2001, Carolyn was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer and given a 50% five-year survival rate. A year later, Carolyn eased back into the workforce by becoming a receptionist for Dr. Chang. Within a few years, Carolyn assumed managerial responsibility for the plastic surgery practice and began taking graduate courses at Strayer University. In 2009, Carolyn earned her MBA degree at the age of 50.

Carolyn never intended to have a career in the beauty industry. That said, she went from being Dr. Chang’s receptionist, earning $13 an hour, to partnering with him to operate four complementary businesses that focus on women’s health and beauty.

In 2016, Carolyn married her best friend Cory Laws. They enjoy cooking, traveling, and drinking single malt Scotch. And they have a mantra: “No Kids, No Pets, No Plants.”
