This webinar is part one of a two-part series on using labor market information (LMI) and occupational skills and sector competency models to inform decision-making, policy, and program improvement. In this webinar, we will define the concepts of sector, industry, and occupation and explain how to identify key occupations using LMI. Once you identify an occupation, you can use LMI to further determine current employment and wages, worker demographics, and typical education, training, and experience levels required, among other things. In addition, Part 2 of this series will help you use industry sector competency models, O*NET information to identify work activities that require education and training across occupations, and other tools from the educational and workforce systems to identify existing levels of related training.
