As Senior Business Development Officer in Loudoun, Virginia, Dave Diaz brings a dynamic combination of experiences that have helped him to provide visionary and bold leadership to the communities he has been honored to serve. Dave has 20 years of executive leadership and coaching experience, international recognition for urban and town center revitalization, credentialed in economic development and entrepreneurial ecosystem development, and distinguished military service.
In the Research Triangle region of North Carolina, Dave’s team and partners ushered an historic turnaround of Raleigh’s center attracting global companies and over $3 billion in new capital investments and over 5,000 jobs. As a city planner and assistant to the city manager in Roanoke, Virginia, Dave managed the city-wide land use planning process involving over 3,000 citizens that resulted in an innovative 20-year comprehensive plan.
In 2021, the Loudoun County Economic Development Department was recognized as the Top Economic Development Organization (with over $5 million annual operating budget) in a large county for attracting over $6 billion in new investments, adding over 6,000 jobs, and granting over $16 million to businesses for recovery and reinvention from the covid-19 crisis.
In 2022, Dave became certified as an economic developer earning the prestigious CEcD designation. In 2023, Dave earned the Entrepreneurship Development Professional (EDP) designation after passing the exam in October. In 2024, he completed the High-Performance Leadership Academy, a program of the National Association of Counties (NACO) and the International City Manager’s Association (ICMA).
Diaz is a proud Army veteran who served a tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom, receiving the Bronze Star. As Vice President of Regional Operations for The Mission Continues, his team activated over 20,000 veterans and community members in service projects across 45 communities.
