Signatures of Loudoun Rules
Purpose

To recognize buildings, interiors, places and details that, together, make Loudoun County unlike any other.

Eligibility

Any physical project completed in Loudoun County (note that special events are not eligible). Consideration for energy efficiency, sustainability, and community economic benefit may be highlighted as a component of each submission, regardless of category.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, all entries must include the following:

  • Completed offical entry form. Paper applications are also accepted. Please send all materials to Miguel Salinas, Loudoun County Department of Economic Development, PO Box 7000, Leesburg, VA 20177 or to .
  • High resolution digital images (no more than five), included with the nomination form. Note that all images from all entries may be used for future purposes by the Department of Economic Development. All project photographs must credit the photographer and have rights already cleared to allow for their use by the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development. Photographs will not be sold.
  • Note: Submissions with incomplete nomination forms or those failing to meet all of the entry requirements will be rendered in default and will not be judged. All submissions will remain the property of Loudoun County Department of Economic Development, which may reproduce any part thereof for publicity purposes.

Category

The Design Cabinet will judge each project on its own merit regardless of category, and reserves the right to adjust nomination categories as necessary. If assistance is desired in selecting a category, contact Miguel Salinas.

Deadline

All entries must reach the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development by 5 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016.

Jury

The jury will be composed of Loudoun County Design Cabinet members and others as predetermined by the Cabinet. This will include a panel of Loudoun County high school students and graduates working to select a "Students' Choice Award." The jury shall have the sole authority to determine whether and how many awards are selected. No minimum or maximum number of awards has been established. Projects will be considered on their own merits regardless of size, scope, category or cost. The jury's decisions are final and not subject to review.

Announcement & Presentation of Winners

All nomination entrants and all winning award recipients will be contacted in spring 2016 following the jury’s deliberations. Winners and team members owners listed on the nomination form will be invited to attend an awards presentation and reception in June 2016. 

Award Display Boards and Certificates

Each award winning entry will receive one 2’ x 2’ display board with a photo of the winning project. Additional boards may be available for later purchase by the winning team.

Each winning entry will also receive paper award certificates for the persons listed on the nomination form. Nomination forms should include the name of the person who should receive the award panel, as well as all participants who should be recognized with certificates.
