It’s also a real challenge…with so many events how do you decide which are the most important to attend? \nMaking the most of this unique time of the year means choosing which events are the most important and which you can afford to skip. To help you figure out how to maximize your impact\, join us for a frank discussion about networking during the holiday season. \nLed by Eric Byrd\, SBDC Manager and Lead Business Advisor\, this informative and entertaining session will help you: \nLearn why (and how) to plan for the holiday season’s events\, so you can prevent being overwhelmed.\nDiscover simple\, actionable techniques for meeting the right people and engaging in meaningful conversations\, rather than wasting time with the same old chit-chat over and over again. \nCreate your own plan of action to evaluate activities so you connect and expand your network\, instead of winging it and realizing later you’ve just recycled old conversations that lead you nowhere. \nEric has taught over 10\,000 professionals how to improve their networking skills through his online and in-person training programs. As the manager of the local Small Business Development Center\, he works with small business owners every week on ways to improve outreach to customers and partners alike. In this entertaining talk\, he will share practical ideas and information that he has learned from 25 years in sales and insights he uncovered from eight years as a business coach and trainer. SUMMARY:Create a Simple Business Plan
DESCRIPTION:All businesses need a plan to succeed. If you own a small business a well thought out plan can help you make important decisions for your own company. Decisions about where to focus resources and capital. Decisions about how to market and what sales activities will bring you the most profitable customers. Running your business without a plan can feel like sailing a boat on a rough sea. You find yourself reacting to problems and unforeseen situations rather than charting a course to grow. \nUnfortunately\, traditional business plans can be long lengthy documents that can be intimidating to write. The information can seem irrelevant and out of touch with your business vision. Sometimes people write them only to stash them away in the bottom of a desk drawer\, never to be looked at again… until the bank asks for it. That kind of business plan may not serve you or your business well. \nFortunately there are other ways to create a business plan that can really help you manage your business. In this hands-on workshop\, we’ll work together to complete a one page business plan that you can use to help you make real decisions. Information that will help you chart a course to success when you want to add a product or service\, change your pricing structure\, or expand your customer base. SBDC Manager Eric Byrd will walk you through building your own simple business plan using The Business Model Canvas tool. You will leave with a valuable reference tool that communicates your business value to potential investors\, partners\, and teammates… and helps you make critical business decisions about hiring\, marketing\, operations to grow your business. \nSpeaker(s): Eric Byrd\, Manager SBDC at MEC-Leesburg
