SUMMARY:Sterling Women Pop-Up Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Sterling Women Pop-Up Happy Hour featuring Carolyn Berrigan\, Managing Director/Part Owner of 4 Businesses \nCarolyn oversees the management of multiple businesses that help women become the best version of themselves. \nCarolyn is an owner and Managing Director of Radiance Salon & Medi-Spa\, with locations in Ashburn and Lansdowne. Carolyn is also an owner and Managing Director of Medi-Weightloss in Lansdowne. Additionally\, Carolyn is the Managing Director of Aesthetica Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center where she manages the plastic surgery practice of Phillip J. Chang\, MD. \nCarolyn\, the eldest of eight children\, was raised in Niagara Falls\, New York. She graduated from Allegheny College in 1981 with a BA in English. \nCarolyn began her career by selling accident insurance door-to-door. She subsequently sold and serviced personal lines insurance before transitioning to the financial investment industry. Carolyn marketed direct investments\, also known as tax shelters\, for several national and regional broker-dealer firms until the late 1980s. \nCarolyn has two children: Alexa Severo (29) and Eric Severo (26). For 14 years\, Carolyn was a stay-at-home mother\, during which time she actively volunteered in her children’s schools\, church\, and local community. \nIn 2001\, Carolyn was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer and given a 50% five-year survival rate. A year later\, Carolyn eased back into the workforce by becoming a receptionist for Dr. Chang. Within a few years\, Carolyn assumed managerial responsibility for the plastic surgery practice and began taking graduate courses at Strayer University. In 2009\, Carolyn earned her MBA degree at the age of 50. \nCarolyn never intended to have a career in the beauty industry. That said\, she went from being Dr. Chang’s receptionist\, earning $13 an hour\, to partnering with him to operate four complementary businesses that focus on women’s health and beauty. \nIn 2016\, Carolyn married her best friend Cory Laws. They enjoy cooking\, traveling\, and drinking single malt Scotch. And they have a mantra: “No Kids\, No Pets\, No Plants.”

SUMMARY:Grow Your Network this Holiday Season

Celebrations\, special get-togethers\, events\, and parties are everywhere\, presenting unique opportunities to make important connections for your business. It’s also a real challenge…with so many events how do you decide which are the most important to attend? \nMaking the most of this unique time of the year means choosing which events are the most important and which you can afford to skip. To help you figure out how to maximize your impact\, join us for a frank discussion about networking during the holiday season. \nLed by Eric Byrd\, SBDC Manager and Lead Business Advisor\, this informative and entertaining session will help you: \nLearn why (and how) to plan for the holiday season’s events\, so you can prevent being overwhelmed.\nDiscover simple\, actionable techniques for meeting the right people and engaging in meaningful conversations\, rather than wasting time with the same old chit-chat over and over again. \nCreate your own plan of action to evaluate activities so you connect and expand your network\, instead of winging it and realizing later you’ve just recycled old conversations that lead you nowhere. \nEric has taught over 10\,000 professionals how to improve their networking skills through his online and in-person training programs. As the manager of the local Small Business Development Center\, he works with small business owners every week on ways to improve outreach to customers and partners alike. In this entertaining talk\, he will share practical ideas and information that he has learned from 25 years in sales and insights he uncovered from eight years as a business coach and trainer. Register today and make the most out of this holiday event season for your own business.
