SUMMARY:Using Labor Market and Skills Information for Effective Sector Strategies
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is part one of a two-part series on using labor market information (LMI) and occupational skills and sector competency models to inform decision-making\, policy\, and program improvement. In this webinar\, we will define the concepts of sector\, industry\, and occupation and explain how to identify key occupations using LMI. Once you identify an occupation\, you can use LMI to further determine current employment and wages\, worker demographics\, and typical education\, training\, and experience levels required\, among other things. In addition\, Part 2 of this series will help you use industry sector competency models\, O*NET information to identify work activities that require education and training across occupations\, and other tools from the educational and workforce systems to identify existing levels of related training.

SUMMARY:Shenandoah University: Free Entrepreneurship & Small Business Certificate
DESCRIPTION:The Shenandoah University Institute for Entrepreneurship will offer a free\, 10-week Entrepreneurship & Small Business Certificate (ESBC) program on Wednesday evenings this fall from 6-9 p.m. The program begins Sept. 6 and ends Nov. 8. \nThe program is non-credit-bearing\, so admission to Shenandoah University is not required. \nUsing CO.STARTERS Core as the base curriculum\, this cohort-style program equips entrepreneurs of all kinds with the insights\, relationships\, and tools needed to turn business ideas into action. \nParticipants enter into a facilitator-led\, collaborative process with a small and supportive group of like-minded peers. Working together\, participants develop and fine-tune their ideas\, critically examining every part and determining the next steps through real-time feedback from people in the community using a simplified version of the Business Model Canvas. This approach enables entrepreneurs to rapidly uncover flaws in their concepts and find viable models more quickly. Participants leave the program with a deeper understanding of how to create a sustainable business\, articulate their models\, and repeat the process with the next great idea.

SUMMARY:Hilb Group: Benefits Compliance Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:We know that benefits compliance is complex and the questions that arise are seemingly endless. Believe it or not\, many employers wrestle with the same compliance issues – so we’ve compiled the questions we’ve been asked most frequently this year\, and we’re ready to give you the answers you need.  \n  \nAdditionally\, we thought it would be fun to up the ante – so the webinar will include an interactive benefits quiz. We’ll draw two names from the list of participants with correct answers. The winners will receive Hilb Group swag to celebrate their amazing compliance knowledge (and we promise\, it isn’t a compliance manual – we’re not giving that up!)
