SUMMARY:Simple Business Plan Bootcamp February 2025
DESCRIPTION:Create a Simple Plan for Your Small Business\nEven a basic plan of action improves your chance of success in business!\nHaving a plan helps you make critical decisions that determine whether you succeed or fail in a small business. Especially when you’re starting out. Spending time identifying your core customers\, knowing what research is important and understanding the key resources you’ll need can make sure you’re moving your business towards profitability and growth \nUnfortunately\, business planning is a process that many find confusing and complicated. The format of a traditional business plan can be unfamiliar\, awkward and intimidating. Knowing what information is critical for your specific business and knowing where to get that information can make the difference between a useful plan or one that ends up on the shelf ignored. \nIn this interactive in-person class we will take a fresh look at how to create a business plan. One that is easy to understand and works for any small business. \nYou will learn an approach planning that is less confusing\, shows you how to figure out what information you really need to research\, and gives you the ability to make important decisions. SBDC Manager Eric Byrd will walk you through building your own simple business plan using tested tools and best practices so you can easily chart a course for success. \nFirst\, you will identify the 5 Elements of Your Plan and begin answering important questions about your customers\, their needs/wants\, your solution and what resources you’ll need to begin (or to grow if you’re already in business). This becomes the foundation of your plan. It’s critical information so you can make the best decisions and take productive actions once you launch. Also in Session One\, you will discover a process to identify your core Customer(s) and what Value makes them want to buy what you offer. \nNext\, you will incorporate that information and begin defining the business model for your company. This will help you understand what will be involved in operating your business successfully. Also in Session Two\, you will learn three key financial reports all business owners need to know\, as well as important financial terminology to help you manage revenue\, expenses and focus on profit in your business. \nThroughout the process you will be able to ask questions and identify the specific information you need to have to create the right plan for your specific business.

While our events take place in Loudoun\, we welcome attendees from across the entire DMV region! \nEach month\, we feature a speaker who discusses an industry-related topic for about 20-30 minutes\, followed by an engaging Q&A session. Our event provides a great opportunity for networking\, while allowing job seekers and entrepreneurs to share their companies\, technologies\, and ideas in a brief 30- second elevator pitch.\nJoin us each month to engage with key cyber and tech issues and discover hot they intersect with technology\, government\, business\, and communities! \nIf you require a reasonable accommodation for any type of disability to participate in Loudoun Cybersecurity & AI Professionals\, please contact Katie Fleger at 703-737-8612 (TTY 711). Three business days advance notice is requested. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Emerging Threats in Space
DESCRIPTION:We rely on space every day! Emerging threats in space pose significant challenges to global security and technological infrastructure. These include the development of anti-satellite weapons (ASATs) that can disable critical satellites used for communication\, navigation\, and defense. Space debris from past missions and collisions increases the risk of damaging active satellites\, creating a cascade of potential disruptions. Additionally\, cyberattacks targeting satellite systems and ground control networks highlight the vulnerability of space-based assets to digital threats. As space becomes increasingly crowded and contested\, international cooperation and policy frameworks will be essential to mitigate risks and ensure the sustainable use of this vital domain.

We’re open to cyber practitioners\, consultants\, trainers\, policymakers\, software vendors\, students\, etc. This Meetup is intended as an informal forum for the people who seek knowledge of the current state\, status\, challenges\, successes\, and emerging topics in governmental and general cybersecurity technologies. \nAs of June\, 2021\, we have transitioned to in-person meetings. Meetings will feature a speaker on a topic of interest for about 20-30 minutes\, encouraging questions and discussion\, and then allow for networking to include announcements by jobseekers/employers and startups who want to give their elevator pitch on a new cyber company\, idea\, or technology. Join this conversation as we discuss the most important issues of the day\, as they concern the intersections of technology\, government\, business\, and people. \nIf you require a reasonable accommodation for any type of disability in order to participate in Loudoun County Cybersecurity Professionals\, please contact Katie Fleger at 703-737-8612 (TTY 711). Three business days advance notice is requested.
