Construction site theft is a well-known issue that can cause significant losses for companies. With the recent rise in construction costs, the risk of theft has increased, making it more important than ever to take preventative measures. Luckily, Arc34 in Ashburn has developed an innovative solution to protect construction sites from theft.
Founded by Sam Newberger and Ryan Fleming, Arc34’s solar-powered, off-grid, portable surveillance system is specifically designed for site security and is a game-changer for the construction industry.
“The product came from a need,” started Newberger, CEO and Co-founder of Arc34. “We knew someone from Ryan Homes who was looking for a surveillance system that is smaller and more discreet.”
The system is an effective way to monitor construction sites and deter potential thieves. It is equipped with high-resolution cameras and advanced motion detection technology, ensuring that any activity on a site is captured and recorded. Additionally, the system can be remotely accessed, allowing site managers to monitor their sites from anywhere at any time.
“Our largest customers are law enforcement and the construction industry,” continued Newberger. “Over the years, we’ve found a niche in security systems for government and commercial clients. We didn’t invent the concept of site security surveillance, but our goal was to make an existing product better in that niche.”
What makes Arc34’s system stand out is its cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly features, revolutionizing the way construction sites are secured. The solar-powered feature of the system makes it highly cost-effective and environmentally friendly. The system’s batteries are charged by the sun during the day, ensuring that it operates 24/7 without any power interruptions. It is equipped with high-quality cameras that can capture clear images even in low light conditions and motion detectors and alarms that can alert security personnel in case of any suspicious activity. Other systems only record footage while Arc34’s livestreams to a mobile app. If there is an incident, it can be downloaded from the app, providing project managers additional oversight for onsite operations.
Newberger and Fleming have always put innovation first. They owned and sold a successful design business where they worked with dozens of small businesses in Loudoun. From design services to small batch manufacturing, they’ve helped other businesses develop and grow their business ideas and are now looking toward the future.
“Arc34 started in 2016 in my garage on a whiteboard,” said Newberger. We started with a CNC [computer numerical control] mill and 3D printer, doing engineering services for other small businesses. We were using our own ideas but wanted to expand so we started working with other companies, developing products. Then COVID made us move away from providing services to our own product line. We consistently keep our eyes open for opportunities and vet ideas and see what’s out there. It’s only an 18-month journey from an idea for something to go to market and our hope is to keep creating innovative solutions for our government and commercial clients.”
Arc34 is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and security of construction sites. Not only is it an excellent security measure, but it can also help improve productivity and efficiency. By monitoring activity, site managers can identify and address any issues that may be slowing down teams, helping to keep projects on track and within budget.
