Loudoun Economic Development’s Executive Director Buddy Rizer was named to the Washingtonian “Tech Titans” list for the sixth-straight year. The 2022 Tech Titans list featured “the 225 most innovative and important people in DC’s tech scene right now”, which included a vibrant mix of entrepreneurs, investors, lobbyists, early-stage CEOs, non-profit leaders, government officials, and big business movers and shakers.
“I’m humbled to be included on this prestigious peer-nominated list for the sixth year,” Rizer said. “Our talented and innovative entrepreneurs and business leaders have created an exciting environment for economic success in Loudoun, which has attracted a world-class workforce who live, work, learn, and play in Loudoun.”
Rizer’s success in enticing data centers to Loudoun County has helped shape the area as a technology hub with a thriving business ecosystem, but Rizer still sees work to be done. “When you reach the size we have, it’s important to have a balanced economy,” he says. “You don’t want all your eggs in one basket.”
To fuel a diverse and equitable economy in the county, the Loudoun Economic Authority, Rizer, and the rest of the Loudoun Economic Development team recently announced that their third annual Loudoun Innovation Challenge will commence in June. The Loudoun Innovation Challenge was created to promote entrepreneurship and business growth by identifying and supporting companies that are developing truly innovative products and services in Loudoun County. This year the Loudoun Economic Development Authority has dedicated $150,000 in funding, divided between six grants, for some of our county’s most innovative entrepreneurs.
