Buddy Rizer is honored in the inaugural Virginia 500 — The 2020 Power List from Virginia Business magazine.
What is power, exactly? In selecting the Virginia 500, Virginia Business magazine researched and surveyed to find leaders from across the Commonwealth who are not only influential, but also interesting.
As the executive director of Loudoun Economic Development, Rizer leads the agency responsible for encouraging growth and developing relationships with Loudoun’s business community in both the commercial and agricultural-based business sectors. During his tenure, Rizer and his team have attracted more than $25 billion in new investment and tens of thousands of new jobs.
“While my job is to promote Loudoun, I recognize we all have a vested interest in Virginia’s economic development success,” Rizer told the magazine.
Rizer helped build Data Center Alley into the largest concentration of data centers in the world. And in response to COVID-19, he brought a focus to supporting the county’s local business through the Loudoun Is Ready consumer confidence campaign and championing the creation of the Loudoun Made Loudoun Grown Marketplace, an online shop that connects Loudoun’s farmers and consumers. The department has also awarded Business Interruption Fund grants to over 1,000 small businesses, with another round of funding on the way.
