Aperiomics, the fast-growing biotech company combining the latest advancements in science, technology, and medicine to change the way healthcare providers identify causes of infection, announced today that they have selected Loudoun County, Virginia, as the location of their permanent corporate headquarters.
The move comes alongside support from Loudoun County Economic Development, which worked closely with the Aperiomics leadership team in the search for the innovative biotech firm’s new long-term home.
“It is vital to us to support cutting edge companies like Aperiomics as the County diversifies its economy and grows the ecosystem for biotech companies,” said Loudoun Economic Development’s Executive Director Buddy Rizer. “Loudoun is well-positioned at the nexus of health and data and Aperiomics is leading this charge.”
“When we began searching for a permanent location for Aperiomics to continue its mission of revolutionizing infectious disease identification, we knew that we needed to be in a community that fosters innovation, believes in leading technologies and enables access to talent, services and infrastructure that a visionary company like ours requires to reach its full potential,” said Dr. Crystal Icenhour, PhD, CEO of Aperiomics. “Our roots are in Loudoun County and nowhere else fit the bill quite as well.
“With its growing reputation as a major technology hub, access to major data centers that allow us to maximize our Artificial Intelligence and genomic research and quick access to major healthcare hubs across the East Coast, we cannot imagine a better place to call home.”
Aperiomics has become known as the only company able to identify every bacterium, virus, fungus, and parasite known to modern science through its Deep Shotgun Metagenomic Sequencing process. The company’s Xplore-PATHOSM Test has created a new gold standard in identifying infectious diseases by characterizing the microbiome to identify the full range of known potential pathogens.
By offering unbiased insight into the causes of infections, healthcare providers can deliver precise treatments for specific conditions and offer patients better care. Aperiomics is committed to finding the answers no one else can, empowering the pursuit of treatments to improve health and quality of life worldwide.
“Loudoun has a world-class tech workforce and a strong entrepreneurial culture, and I am very pleased to see one of our start-ups take this major step forward,” said Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall. “We are very proud of Dr. Icenhour and her entire team. Aperiomics is enriching the lives of people across the nation and doing it right here from Loudoun County.”
Loudoun County successfully competed with multiple jurisdictions for this project. At a business meeting on June 4, the Board of Supervisors will consider a $75,000 commercial business incentive fund grant to support the costs of the development of a state-of-the-art laboratory facility to be completed and certified in the coming months.
The new, 4,700-square-foot Aperiomics headquarters will be located in a Loudoun County Opportunity Zone at 45925 Horseshoe Drive in Sterling, Virginia, and will be the hub for the company’s continued research and innovation.
