If you run a farm-related business in Loudoun County, Virginia, please apply to participate in the 2018 Fall Farm Tour, which will be held October 20-21. The goal of the tour is to increase visits to Loudoun farms and grow the sales of Loudoun products and services. Loudoun Economic Development will promote all tour sites online and in a widely-distributed printed brochure. There is no cost to participate as a tour site, but you must apply online by Friday, August 17 at biz.loudoun.gov/FarmTourApp.
“The D.C. metro area has more than six million potential customers for the products that are Loudoun-made and Loudoun-grown,” explains Loudoun Economic Development Executive Director Buddy Rizer. “Our farm tours are a great way to showcase all of the assets that make Western Loudoun so special.”
On-farm and in-town craft beverage venues do not need to apply; they will be featured on the Fall Farm Tour map. The types of businesses that are encouraged to apply to participate include farms that grow livestock or produce or businesses that use them to create products such as cheese, chocolates, tea or yarn.
“We also invite participation from businesses that offer farm experiences the whole family can enjoy, such as hayrides, scavenger hunts, spinning demonstrations, corn mazes, horse rides and candle-making,” says Loudoun Agricultural Business Development Officer Kellie Hinkle.
“All participating venues are asked to offer an educational component to visitors. One of the goals of the Fall Farm Tour is to raise consumer awareness of where food comes from and the essential work farmers do,” Hinkle adds.
Apply online by August 17 at biz.loudoun.gov/FarmTourApp.
