Loudoun County Economic Development participated in this year’s SelectUSA Summit, a U.S. government-wide program led by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Since its inception, SelectUSA has facilitated US$ 30.7 billion in investment, creating and/or retaining tens of thousands of U.S. jobs. This year more than 1,000 businesses attended, and approximately 100 economic development organizations exhibited.
Over the three-day summit, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin spoke about why the United States is an ideal place for companies outside the U.S. to do business. Emphasis was placed on the safety of doing business in the United States.
Governors from about 20 states spoke to highlight their respective states’ advantages for robust business environments. In Loudoun’s case, we were asked many times by businesses and government officials about our data centers, and about why we are so successful here.
When people from six continents have heard about Loudoun’s success, we are definitely getting the word out about our dynamic business climate in Loudoun!
