Meet JC Silvey, a true renaissance man who has taken advantage of diverse business interests in Loudoun County. A native of Pennsylvania, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1988 and served his country as a Navy flight instructor in Pensacola, Fla. From 1992-96, Silvey was deployed on the USS Enterprise and USS Eisenhower as an A-6 attack pilot, flying missions in hostile territory over Bosnia, Somalia and Iraq.

Silvey transitioned to civilian life in 1996, moving to Loudoun in 1997, and has been a Boeing 767 Flight Officer for United Airlines for the last 21 years. In 2000, he became a certified residential appraiser in Loudoun County, followed by his realtor’s license in 2014.

Despite his diverse interests, Silvey ties it all together with his drone videography and photography hobby. His YouTube channel has more than 70 videos, regularly updated with drone and handheld video of available properties, as well as Loudoun businesses like Bluemont Winery, Makersmiths, Vanish Brewery, the original Delirium Café, and commerce hubs like Village at Leesburg and Crescent Place:

Silvey’s drone footage of downtown Leesburg was the perfect addition to our Welcome To Loudoun video, which the department translated to four languages and uses for international business development.

His expertise has also been tapped by NBC in a nationally broadcast interview on drone regulations near airports.

Silvey will be on the panel at the upcoming Loudoun Small Business Week lunch panel, “Unmanned and Ready for Business,” on May 19 in Sterling. To check out all of our Small Business Week events, visit LoudounSBW.com.
