Loudoun County, Virginia’s Department of Economic Development is partnering with 1 Million Cups and the French Embassy to offer a special 1 Million Cups event on Wednesday, September 25 at 10 a.m. at the Mason Enterprise Center in Leesburg, VA. Attendees will receive an overview of two French tech startups, KoDe and TrustInSoft, and dialog with the company founders regarding partnering with U.S. business developers. There is no cost to attend this event.
The two French company founders were selected as part of the French Embassy’s New Technology Venture Accelerator program, which connects promising French startups with American partners in U.S. cities known for their innovation-friendly environments. Loudoun County joins Boston and San Francisco as an NETVA site this year.
“This is yet another example of Loudoun’s growing reputation as an international tech community,” said Buddy Rizer, acting director of Loudoun County’s Department of Economic Development.
Information and communications technology is Loudoun’s largest industry, employing 23,000 people and representing 19 percent of Loudoun’s private employment. Loudoun has the highest number of Internet, satellite and defense companies in America.
Loudoun is also a regional leader for entrepreneurialism, recently being recognized as the number one jurisdiction in the Washington, D.C. metro area for commercial bank loans to small businesses.
“Our 1 Million Cups events are just one of several initiatives we’ve launched over the past two years to create an environment in Loudoun where tech startups can grow and thrive,” explained Debi Roder, the small business and entrepreneurship manager for Loudoun economic development.
1 Million Cups is a national program of the Kaufman Foundation, and is offered each Wednesday morning at 202 Church Street in Leesburg as a collaboration of the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development, the Loudoun Small Business Development Center, the Mason Enterprise Center, and the Town of Leesburg.
