Raytheon Selects Loudoun for Consolidated IIS Business Headquarters

Loudoun, Virginia Economic Development welcomes Raytheon Company’s selection of Loudoun County as the location for the consolidated headquarters of Raytheon’s Intelligence, Information and Services business.

“With this decision to locate its consolidated IIS business headquarters here, Raytheon is expanding its already formidable Loudoun presence,” said Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott K. York. “Raytheon IIS accounts for a significant portion of the nearly 20,000 federal government contracting jobs here.”

Loudoun Economic Development Business Development Manager Steve Hargan worked closely with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership on the Raytheon IIS headquarters project. “Raytheon has been one of Loudoun’s largest employers since they relocated significant business operations here four years ago,” Hargan said. “Loudoun is an ideal location for defense contractors like Raytheon due to our access to federal government agencies, combined with one of the most highly educated populations in the U.S. and top-rated quality of life factors.”

Supervisor Shawn Williams, who represents the Broad Run District where Raytheon IIS is located, said, “The fact that Loudoun and Virginia were chosen over other options is significant in this economic climate and indicative of the advantages we offer in Loudoun County. There are many benefits to locating in Loudoun, which is why Raytheon located operations here in 2009 and selected Loudoun for this business headquarters consolidation.”

Loudoun, Virginia Economic Development Director Tom Flynn explained, “For some time, Loudoun has been a focal point for defense and aerospace companies, with more than two dozen of the nation’s largest defense contractors already operating in the county. Our federal government contracting cluster has grown 116 percent in the past decade.”
