Loudoun’s annual Spring Farm Tour is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19. Farmers who would like to participate are encouraged to review the tour policies and guidelines, and complete the online application available at biz.loudoun.gov/farmtourapp. Completed applications must be received by the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development by close of business on Friday, March 15, 2013.
The Spring Farm Tour is a free, self-guided tour showcasing local, active farms in the county. The goal of this weekend tourism event is to promote Loudoun County’s farms and agricultural community, increase awareness of Loudoun’s rural economy, and educate the public about agriculture. The tour serves as an introduction to the growing season and informs consumers about locally grown products.
Brochures for the Spring Farm Tour, including a map and directions to all participating farms, will be available at Loudoun County libraries, community centers, and Visit Loudoun in Leesburg, along with the 2013 Buy Fresh Buy Local Product Guide. Detailed tour information will also be available at www.LoudounFarms.org.
